SLIX, our local Internet exchange, greatly reduces latency for customers.
In 2011, XMission founded the Salt Lake Internet eXchange (SLIX). SLIX makes it possible for Internet service providers (ISPs), cloud hosting providers, and content delivery networks (CDNs) to share transit and shorten their path to each other. This reduces latency and potentially lowers costs.
SLIX’s physical location in downtown Salt Lake City contains network switches that route traffic between different member networks. Members share the expense of maintaining core infrastructure.
As a result of provider participation in SLIX and other Internet exchanges, end users see reduced latency to participating networks
